Prepping Your Skin Before the Peel

All of our treatments at The Skin Manifesto are completely tailored to our clients skin type and condition. That’s why we always start with an advanced skin analysis to understand the complexity of your skin’s unique needs and function.

From this analysis, we will create a customised pre-treatment skin prep plan, to ensure your skin is functioning as optimally as possible, prior to your herbal facial peel, for maximum results. This will usually consist of a gentle cleanser to remove surface debris and a moisturiser to hydrate and heal the skin. Prior to any treatment, we want to protect your skin from any further damage, therefore we use a treatment serum such as the BIO Hydra C Serum to protect against free radical damage and a SPF to protect the skin from any UV damage. Each of these products will need to be used for 4-weeks prior to your skin peel and will also be used post-treatment.

Our Pro C4 Retinol serum will deliver much-needed vitamin A’s directly to your skin, to protect your skin and restore proper cell-function prior to your power peel. Because they can increase sensitivity you’ll need to stop using any vitamin A products on your skin 48 hours prior to treatment and for 7 days thereafter.

The exact products that are right for you will be prescribed by your dermal clinician, to ensure that it is suitable for your skin type and condition. In some cases, a green power peel is not suitable until your skin barrier’s natural function has been rebuilt.

What to expect at your peel appointment:

During your treatment, your dermal clinician will apply the herbal peel formula directly to your skin, massaging it so that the herbs can penetrate deep into your skin layers. The herbal peel treatment both gently exfoliates away dead skin cells and debris, whilst stimulating new collagen production.

Once you leave our clinic the process isn’t quite complete. The peel will continue to work deep within the layers of your skin for 24-48 hours post-peel. You might feel a gentle tingle in your skin – this is the herbs coming back to the surface and the dead skin cells peeling away.
